Burimari: Import-export activities through Burimari Land Port in Lalmonirhat district are set to be suspended for 10 days starting from June 5 due to Eid-ul-Azha. A letter signed by ASM Niaz Nahid, general secretary of Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding (C and F) Agent Association, confirmed this information.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision to halt trading was made after discussions with exporters, importers, C and F agents, and businessmen from both countries. However, individuals possessing passports and visas will still be able to cross through the Burimari immigration outpost, as mentioned by Niaz Nahid.
The Burimari C and F Agent Association has communicated the closure to various stakeholders, including the Department of Agricultural Extension, Burimari Duty Station, the port’s traffic division, Immigration Police, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Additionally, the Indian offices of Changrabandha port, import-export association, and C and F agent welfare association have been informed.
Burimari Land Port Revenue Officer Rashedul Islam noted that internal operations of the port would continue, barring government holidays in customs. Faruk Ahmed, president of Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding (C and F) Agent Association, stated that the port’s operations are expected to resume on June 15.
