Mirpur: For the first time after a major heart attack, former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. Tamim, who recently returned to the country following a medical check-up in Singapore, attended the stadium to watch the highly anticipated match between Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tamim would have led Mohammedan in the match if not for the cardiac arrest he suffered last month during his team’s game against Shinepukur Cricket Club in BKSP. Upon his arrival at the stadium, Tamim first made his way to the president’s box to watch the ongoing game. Later, he visited Mohammedan’s dressing room to reconnect with his teammates and colleagues.
Despite Tamim’s absence, Mohammedan managed to break their 11-match losing streak against Abahani with a 39-run victory, providing a morale boost for the team and its fans. In the ongoing league, Towhid Hridoy has stepped in to lead Mohammedan, filling the leadership void left by Tamim’s temporary departure from the field.
