Record Tk 9.18cr Found at Historic Pagla Mosque

Kishoreganj: A record amount of Taka 9,17,80,687 was discovered in the donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque in the district, along with a significant amount of foreign currencies and jewelry.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after a recess of four months and 12 days, a total of 11 donation boxes at Pagla Mosque were opened today, revealing the amount stashed in 28 sacks. The counting process involved around 400 individuals, including members of the mosque management committee, as well as teachers and students from the Madrasah and Orphanage located on the mosque complex.



Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Managing Committee President Fouzia Khan, along with Police Superintendent Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, were present during the occasion. Assistant General Manager of Rupali Bank’s Kishoreganj Branch, Rafiqul Islam, disclosed the total amount after the formal counting concluded in the evening.



The mosque’s bank account currently holds a total of Taka 80,75,73,576. Authorities have announced plans for the construction of the ‘Pagla Mosque Islamic Complex,’ which is expected to have an initial cost of Taka 115 crore. Upon completion, the complex will accommodate around 60,000 people for prayers simultaneously.
