Lahore: Mohammad Haris delivered an outstanding performance, leading Pakistan to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the third T20 match at Gaddafi Stadium. With this win, Pakistan swept the series, showcasing their dominance in the shortest format of the game.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh set a challenging target of 196-6 after opting to bat first. However, Haris made light work of the chase, scoring an unbeaten 107 off just 46 balls. His innings, which included eight fours and seven sixes, ensured Pakistan reached the target with 14 balls to spare.
Bangladesh initially appeared to put up a fight when Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Shahidzada Farhan for just one run in the opening over. Despite this early setback, Haris, with support from Saim Ayub, who scored 45 off 29 balls, dismantled the Bangladesh bowling attack with a 92-run partnership off 53 balls. Tanzim Hasan Sakib managed to dismiss Ayub, but by then, Pakistan was already in a commanding position.
After Ay
ub’s departure, Hasan Nawaz joined Haris and continued the aggressive assault on Bangladesh’s bowlers. Nawaz contributed a quick-fire 26 off 13 balls before being dismissed by Miraz, who was Bangladesh’s most successful bowler with figures of 2-26.
Haris reached his maiden century off 45 balls and, alongside captain Salman Agha, who remained not out on 15, guided Pakistan to victory. The pair completed the chase with ease, leaving the Bangladeshi bowlers with no respite.
Bangladesh’s innings was anchored by openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who shared a 110-run partnership in 10.4 overs. Emon scored a brisk 66 off 34 balls, while Tanzid added 42 off 32. However, the middle order failed to capitalize on this strong start, with only Towhid Hridoy and captain Liton Das making notable contributions of 25 and 22 runs, respectively.
Pakistan’s bowlers, particularly Hasan Ali and Abbas Afridi, who took two wickets each, managed to restrict Bangladesh’s total in the death overs. Bangladesh’s stru
ggles in the series continued, having previously lost the first two matches by 37 and 57 runs, respectively. The series defeat followed a surprising 2-1 loss to the United Arab Emirates, an ICC associate nation.
