Dhaka: Visiting Indonesian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, who is leading a trade delegation, has expressed his country’s readiness to explore mutually beneficial sectors for future investments in Bangladesh. He made these remarks during a meeting with Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry this afternoon, as mentioned in a press release from the foreign ministry.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two sides engaged in discussions covering a broad spectrum of bilateral, regional, and trade and investment-related issues. They talked about the potential for enhanced cooperation in areas such as power generation, energy storage, and energy infrastructure development in Bangladesh.

The Indonesian Vice Minister described Bangladesh as a strategic and important trade partner in the South Asia region. He also emphasized the importance of boosting people-to-people contacts, particularly among students and academics, to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain highlighted the need for regular institutional dialogues to deepen bilateral relations further. Both parties agreed to hold the next Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) by August this year, aiming to enhance collaboration and understanding.

The Foreign Adviser also expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s ongoing support in the repatriation process of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals, the Rohingya, from Bangladesh.
