Govt Pledges to Address Judges’ Shortage and Logistical Issues: Dr Asif Nazrul

Bandarban: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul announced today that the interim government is committed to resolving the ongoing crises related to the shortage of judges and logistical challenges. He emphasized that these issues would be addressed during the current government’s tenure, following a recent inspection of the land earmarked for the Chief Judicial Court of Bandarban.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Asif Nazrul stated, “There is a crisis over the shortage of judges and logistics. We have assumed office very recently. It takes time to make the appointment (of judges). The crisis over the judges’ shortage will be resolved, we will resolve these during our tenure.” His remarks came during a briefing with journalists, underscoring the government’s commitment to tackling these persistent issues.



The inspection was attended by notable figures including Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Md Zamiul Haider, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Begum Zebunnahar Aisha, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Siraj Uddin Iqbal. Dr Nazrul also discussed the potential of referring family court cases to arbitration as a means to alleviate pressure on the judicial system, although he noted that no final decision has been made in this regard.



Following the inspection, Dr Asif Nazrul participated in a discussion focused on the infrastructure development activities within Bandarban District at the District and Sessions Judge Court. During the meeting, a memorandum was presented to him on behalf of the Chief Adviser from the Bangladesh Judicial Employees Association, Bandarban District wing, highlighting the pressing needs and concerns of judicial employees in the district.
