Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has emphasized the necessity of implementing the party’s 31-point reform charter to reconstruct the nation, which he claims has been devastated over the past 15 years.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman, addressing a training workshop virtually from London, accused the Awami League government of destroying the country during their rule. He stated that the BNP has proposed the 31-point reform plan as a strategy for national restructuring. The workshop, organized by the BNP Central Training Committee, took place at the Magura auditorium and included participation from BNP leaders and activists from the Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur, and Kushtia districts.
Rahman highlighted that multiple reform commissions formed by the interim government have submitted reports with suggestions that are largely incorporated into the BNP’s 31-point agenda. He pointed out that those who have unlawfully held onto power using force over the last 15 years have now left the country. He assured that the people are ready to place their trust in the BNP, warning that any party leader or activist attempting to undermine this trust would face expulsion.
Tarique Rahman further shared that if the BNP comes to power, they plan to introduce a bicameral parliament and implement a rule limiting individuals to two terms in the office of the prime minister. The workshop saw the presence of several notable figures, including BNP chairperson’s adviser Ismail Jabiullah, central training affairs secretary ABM Mosharraf Hossain, assistant training secretary Rehana Akhter Ranu, Krishak Dal joint secretary Mahmuda Habiba, former Chhatra Dal president Fazlur Rahman Khokon, former Chhatra Dal general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, and Anidra Islam Amit.
