Dhaka: Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed announced today that the drafting of e-Money Regulations has been completed with the aim of fostering a secure and competitive environment for digital transactions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Salehuddin detailed the advancements in digital financial transactions during his presentation of the proposed national budget for FY26, which was broadcasted via Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. He highlighted the use of the iBAS++ system, through which around 1.4 million government employees receive their salaries directly into their bank accounts via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). EFT is also utilized to disburse allowances for social security programs, and its application is being progressively widened.

Dr. Salehuddin emphasized that the budget formulation for all ministries and departments is conducted through iBAS++, aligning with the government’s policies and performance objectives. The adoption of iBAS++ is rapidly increasing in field offices. The automated challan (A-challan) system now facilitates online revenue or fee payments across all branches of 61 commercial banks, and payments can be made from anywhere using internet banking, debit or credit cards, and mobile financial services.

To further extend the benefits of this system, Dr. Salehuddin mentioned that efforts are ongoing to integrate various systems in phases, ensuring a more cohesive digital financial infrastructure.
