Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul announced that the trial proceedings against Sheikh Hasina officially began today, focusing on the killings during the student-led mass uprising movement.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser shared on his verified Facebook page that the prosecution team has formally filed charges at the International Crimes Tribunal, marking the start of the judicial process. He highlighted the extensive preparations undertaken by the tribunal and its investigative wing for this phase of the trial.

The adviser mentioned that Chhatra Dal leader Wasim was among the initial casualties of the July Uprising, and he noted the families of Abu Sayeed, Mugdho, and Wasim are now closer to achieving justice. The trial, which involves allegations of extrajudicial killings and crimes against humanity, is set to be broadcast live on various media platforms, including BTV.

Dr. Asif Nazrul pointed out that between July and August, numerous allegations surfaced against the then-Awami League government, its leadership, government-loyal administration, and certain law enforcement members. These allegations include genocide and crimes against humanity, reportedly committed to suppress the student-public movement.

Expressing confidence in the judicial process, the adviser stated his belief that Sheikh Hasina and other accused individuals will be proven guilty through a fair and transparent trial.
