Rangamati: The government has officially declared a general holiday in the three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban on April 13 to celebrate the Chaitra Sankranti festival.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Public Administration released a notification on March 27, announcing the holiday through an executive order. This holiday will be optional for residents in other districts of the country who are associated with the Chaitra Sankranti festival.
The holiday period is extended by the fact that the two days preceding April 13, Friday and Saturday, are already designated as weekly holidays. Furthermore, April 14 is a government holiday in observance of Pohela Baishakh, resulting in a total of four consecutive days off for the people in the three hill districts.
The notification further specifies that all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices in Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts will remain closed during these holidays, allowing residents to fully participate in the festivities.
