Dhaka: Newly appointed Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday declared that the ‘mob culture’ prevalent in Bangladesh will be eradicated. “The government is determined to completely eliminate ‘mob culture’ in Bangladesh. Mob culture is over. No one will be allowed to engage in mob activities in the name of realising demands,” he asserted.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Ahmed made these remarks during an introductory meeting with officials at the Secretariat on his first working day. He emphasized that while rallies and gatherings can occur and memorandums can be submitted to make legitimate claims, these should align with democratic processes.
The Home Minister also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability within the Home Ministry. “We want to build the ministry as a corruption-free institution,” he stated, further adding that any force found engaging in criminal activities will face immediate investigation and action.
Ahmed urged officials to uphold their duties with transparency and accountability, emphasizing that no illegal lobbying will be tolerated. In his efforts to restore public trust in law enforcement, he stressed that police must be seen as allies of the people, and that it’s crucial to rebuild the damaged image of the police force.
