Rajshahi: With the aim of successfully tackling the dengue situation and ensuring cleanliness, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated a dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign across the country. He formally inaugurated this three-month-long campaign at 9 am today at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (National Parliament Building).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, all City Corporations including Rajshahi City Corporation, and districts and upazilas across the country were connected online to this inaugural event. On this occasion, an inaugural ceremony was organized at 9 am today at the Green Plaza of the Nagar Bhaban of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton was present at the event. After the Prime Minister inaugurated the three-month-long program, a colorful rally was held in front of the Nagar Bhaban.
The rally proceeded via Darikharbona Mor and Kadirganj Greater Road and concluded at Nagar Bhaban. The RCC Administrator gave a brief speech at the Nagar Bhaban premises, emphasizing the implementation of the Prime Minister's directives for dengue prevention. Leaflets are being distributed among city dwellers to create public awareness, and cleaning and mosquito eradication activities have been intensified. Various programs will be carried out over the next three months.
RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman stated, "We will continue to work to build a dengue-free metropolis. We seek the cooperation of city dwellers in this work." He also highlighted that to prevent dengue, the initiatives of the City Corporation alone are not enough; the city dwellers also have to play a responsible role. Along with keeping their own houses and surrounding areas clean, everyone must remain vigilant to prevent water accumulation, which can create mosquito breeding grounds.
The event was attended by notable figures such as Additional Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Faruk Hossain, BNCC Mahasthan Regiment Commander Lt. Colonel Golam Kabir, Chief Executive Officer of RCC Rezaul Karim, Councilor in charge of the City Corporation, Deputy Police Commissioner of RMP Gaziur Rahman, and other councilors among others.
