Four Family Members Sustain Burns in Manikganj Fire

Manikganj: Four members of a family, including a woman, suffered burn injuries when a fire ignited by an electric spark engulfed their tin-shed house in the sadar upazila of Manikganj district on Wednesday.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the injured individuals have been identified as Shamsul Biswas, 65, his wife Mafiyara Begum, 55, and their two sons, Masum Biswas, 35, and Jony Biswas, 25. Witnesses reported that the incident occurred around 1 pm when a spark from an electric wire set a curtain on fire inside the house.



Masum Biswas recounted that his mother and younger brother were inside the house when the fire started. His father, Shamsul, rushed in from outside to extinguish the flames and was also injured in the process. Masum himself sustained minor injuries while attempting to rescue his family.



The injured were initially taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital before being transferred to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 6:30 pm for advanced treatment. Dr. Md Harunur Rashid, the resident surgeon, confirmed the arrival of the burn victims and stated that they are under treatment, although the extent of their injuries remains undetermined at this time.
