Dhaka: Government officials are required to remain in their offices from 9:00 to 9:40 am daily, the Ministry of Public Administration said on Sunday. In a notification, the ministry detailed that this directive aligns with earlier instructions from the Cabinet Division, which emphasize responsible behavior in offices, energy conservation, and maintaining cleanliness.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the ministry has observed deviations from these instructions and has requested strict compliance. The directive stipulates that officials must not leave their office rooms during the specified time frame. Additionally, it advises the use of natural light whenever possible and urges officials to operate only the necessary number of lights, fans, air conditioners, and other electrical devices.
The guidelines further specify that air conditioners should be set at temperatures of 25°C or above. Upon leaving the office, all electrical appliances, including lights, fans, air conditioners, computers, printers, and scanners, must be switched off. The use of unnecessary lighting in corridors, stairs, washrooms, and other areas should be avoided.
The ministry also emphasized that office spaces should be kept clean, including rooms, corridors, toilets, stairs, and handrails. To ensure adherence to these instructions, each department or organization is required to form vigilance teams to monitor compliance.
