Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) reassured citizens today that there is no security threat surrounding the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. He emphasized that comprehensive measures have been implemented to ensure the safety and ease of those traveling for the holiday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser made these remarks after inspecting the North Shahjahanpur Cattle Market in the capital. He addressed concerns about potential risks, affirming that the necessary precautions are in place to facilitate a safe and unrestrained journey for holiday goers.
Following his visit to the cattle market, the Home Adviser toured the Mohakhali Bus Terminal, as well as the Kamlapur Railway Station. At the Mohakhali Bus Stand, he highlighted that instructions have already been issued to transport sector owners and workers to ensure a smooth and pleasant travel experience. These directives were discussed during a meeting with representatives from the transport industry.
Addressing questions, the Home Adviser disclosed that security forces, including the armed forces, police, and Ansar, will be actively patrolling roads and highways to prevent incidents such as dacoity and mugging. He urged law enforcement agencies to enforce legal action against motorbike riders who violate safety regulations by carrying three passengers or riding without helmets.
Furthermore, Jahangir reiterated that strict measures will be in place to prevent the overcharging of fares and overloading of passengers on buses. He emphasized cooperation from transport owners and workers in adhering to these rules, warning that violators will face punitive legal actions.
