Dhaka: The National Citizen Party (NCP), Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD-Marxist) submitted proposals on state reform to the National Consensus Commission (NCC) today at its office at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this development was disclosed in a press release signed by Paban Chowdhury, the Public Relations Officer of the NCC. A delegation from the NCP, led by the party’s joint convener Sarwar Tushar, submitted its reform proposals to the commission. Similarly, CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince and BSD (Marxist) Central Executive Forum Coordinator Masud Rana led their respective delegations to submit their party’s proposals on reforms.
Previously, a delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) also submitted its proposals to the NCC. Led by BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, the party submitted its written opinion on constitutional and electoral reforms to the commission at its office.
The NCC had its inaugural meeting on March 20 with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) as part of an effort to reach a national consensus on the recommendations of the reform commissions after engaging with stakeholders. The commission was established under the chairmanship of the interim government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, aiming to build national consensus. Its activities officially commenced on February 15.
