Khulna: Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar emphasized the pivotal role of moral education in a nation’s progress during a recent event. He highlighted that countries prioritizing moral education have achieved significant development, unlike those focusing solely on institutional education without moral guidance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar made these remarks as the chief guest at the annual examination results announcement and prize-giving ceremony organized by Al Hera Ideal Madrasa in Phultala Upazila. He pointed out that while Bangladesh has an abundance of educated individuals, the nation struggles with a lack of moral and ethical values among its citizens.
Parwar criticized the absence of morality and character among many highly educated individuals in leading positions, which has led to large-scale corruption and the illegal transfer of funds abroad. He argued that nurturing morally sound children, in line with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, is essential for national development. This goal, he suggested, is best achieved through madrasa education.
Reflecting on the past 54 years since independence, Parwar expressed disappointment over the country’s failure to establish an education system that simultaneously produces honest, competent, and skilled citizens. The event was presided over by Maulana Abdul Gafur, the madrasa’s founder director, and attended by various notable figures, including Khulna District Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman and others.
The ceremony concluded with Parwar and other dignitaries distributing prizes to meritorious students. Earlier in the day, Parwar also addressed an assembly organized by Khan Jahan Ali Thana Jamaat.
