Dhaka: This year, the National Fitra Fixation Committee has decided that the minimum rate for fitra will be set at Taka 110, with the maximum rate reaching Taka 2,805 per person.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was made during a meeting of the National Fitra Fixation Committee held in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The meeting was presided over by Maulana Mufti Abdul Maleque, the President of the National Fitra Fixing Committee and Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Fitra is a donation made by affluent Muslims to the underprivileged before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. The rates for fitra remain consistent with the previous year, where the minimum amount was also set at Taka 110 and the maximum at Taka 2,805 per person.

Under Islamic law, fitra can be paid using various food items such as flour, barley, raisins, dates, and cheese. The rates have been established based on the current market prices of these items, as gathered from all divisions.

Muslims are encouraged to pay fitra in accordance with their financial capacity, selecting either a specific item or using the current market price of these designated food items.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Maulana Mahfujul Haque, a member of the Islamic Foundation Board of Governors, Dr. Mohammad Harunur Rashid, director of the Department of Dye and Culture at the foundation, and Mufti Maulana Mohammad Abdullah, along with other Islamic scholars.
