Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted that a mild heat wave is continuing to sweep over various regions of the country, including the capital, for the next 24 hours starting from this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the heat wave is affecting the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Manikganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rangamati, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Patuakhali. The forecast, which began at 9 am today, indicates that these conditions may persist.
A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal and its adjoining areas, while a seasonal low is situated over the South Bay. There is a likelihood of rain, thundershowers, or lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds in one or two places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, with hail expected in isolated areas.
The BMD forecast added that the weather might remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country. Both day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 37.7 degrees Celsius in Baghabari, Sirajganj district, while today’s minimum temperature of 14.9 degrees Celsius was noted in Tetulia upazila, Panchagarh district. The maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours, until 6 am today, was 18 millimeters in Narshingdi district.
In the capital, the sun is set to set at 6:08 pm today and rise at 6:05 am tomorrow.
