Three Bangladeshis Killed in Landmine Blast Near Myanmar Border

Naikhongchhari: Three Bangladeshi nationals lost their lives in a landmine explosion near the Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Leraia, 41, son of Suniong Chakma; Ongke Mong, 50, son of Neomong Chakma; and Chingka Ong, son of Oimong Chakam, all from Bhalukia Para under No 9 ward of Ghumdhum union of the upazila.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Enamul Hasan, Naikhongchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), reported that the explosion occurred around noon in a zero-line area near border pillars 42 and 43 along the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier. The victims were reportedly visiting their cropland when the incident took place.



Upon receiving information about the incident, police were dispatched to the location and subsequently recovered the bodies from the site. The border area has been known for its risks due to the presence of landmines, posing a danger to local residents and those venturing close to the frontier.
