Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted that light to moderate rain, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, is likely to persist across most parts of Bangladesh until June 3. This weather pattern will be followed by a slight increase in temperature starting from June 2.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a 24-hour forecast from BMD, which commenced at 9am today, indicates that regions including Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions will experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds. The forecast also predicts that Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions will see similar weather conditions, with some areas in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions receiving moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The weather bulletin elaborated that a well-marked low over the Northwest Bay and adjoining areas has intensified into a depression, subsequently evolving into a deep depression. This system moved north/northeastwards and weakened into a land depression, currently situated over Tangail and nearby areas. It is expected to continue its northward trajectory and gradually weaken.

The southwest monsoon has made its presence felt, advancing up to divisions like Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Rangpur. Meanwhile, both day and night temperatures across the country are anticipated to remain nearly unchanged.

Thursday’s maximum temperature was reported at 33.2 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, while the minimum temperature recorded today was 23.8 degrees Celsius in Bandarban. Notably, the highest rainfall within the past 24 hours, as of 6am today, was observed at Maijdi Court, measuring 285 millimeters.

For residents of Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:41 pm today and rise at 5:11 am tomorrow.
