Dhaka: Newly appointed Kuwaiti Ambassador Ali Tunyan Abdul Wahab Hamadah in Dhaka announced that Kuwait is prepared to recruit more Bangladeshi workers, particularly in skilled trades and technical fields such as medicine, nursing, and information technology. The envoy made this statement during a courtesy visit to Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin at the foreign ministry, as mentioned in a press release from the ministry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ambassador Hamadah expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the Bangladeshi workforce in Kuwait, highlighting their loyalty and hard work. He noted that Bangladeshi expatriate workers have been instrumental in the economic development of both countries. The Foreign Secretary acknowledged Kuwait’s recent employment of nurses under a memorandum of understanding between the two nations and responded positively to Kuwait’s interest in recruiting domestic aides, suggesting the creation of a legal framework to manage employment and workers’ ri
ghts effectively.
The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation in areas such as employment, trade, energy, and food security, while exploring new avenues of cooperation. The ambassador welcomed Bangladesh’s proposal to simplify visa procedures for businesspeople and investors, recognizing the importance of this step for economic collaboration. The Foreign Secretary suggested that Kuwaiti investors could benefit from investing in Bangladesh’s agro-based products and food processing sector, particularly in the Exclusive Economic Zones, to enhance food security.
The ambassador showed interest in engaging with Bangladesh’s food security initiatives and the development of the halal food industry. Both parties recalled the strong defense collaboration between the countries and acknowledged the professionalism of military professionals serving in Kuwait. The envoy emphasized Kuwait’s keen interest in strengthening ties in trade and investment and highlighted the need for structured collaboration to boost mutual bene
fits.
Discussions also focused on expediting the planned visits of a Kuwaiti delegation for Foreign Office Consultations and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister’s visit to attend the Joint Commission hosted by Bangladesh. Both sides expressed satisfaction over mutual collaboration in international forums, including the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
