Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today stated that the July Uprising has once again opened up a historic opportunity to forge a prosperous Bangladesh. Fakhrul emphasized the pivotal role politicians play in shaping a nation’s destiny, asserting that they either create or destroy the pathways for progress.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion focused on the development of education, health, social development, and insurance sectors. The event, held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Kakrail, Dhaka, was organized by Bishwabiddyaloy Porikroma, a social organization, and included a reception ceremony for students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC examination.
Fakhrul stressed the dual potential of political leadership, noting that leaders can elevate a nation or bring it to its lowest point. He highlighted the need for honesty in politics and the pursuit of dreams to ensure the political landscape remains positive and not driven by personal gain. He referenced the events of August 5, 2024, as a cautionary example of politics driven by self-interest.
Addressing the students, Fakhrul encouraged them to embrace the new chapter of life that college represents, urging them to remain hopeful and prepare to lead the nation. He acknowledged the contributions of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who he credited with transforming Bangladesh and setting it on a new trajectory in a short period.
Fakhrul also critiqued the current state of Bangladesh’s education system, calling it a misfortune that it remains substandard. He attributed responsibility to politicians and bureaucrats and stressed the need to strengthen technical education to improve the system.
