Dhaka: The first namaz-e-janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) of Jagannath University student Md Jobaed Hasan was held in the university premises. The janaza took place in front of the Science Faculty of the university after the Zuhr prayer.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, students, teachers, and leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal participated in the janaza seeking the eternal peace of Jobaed. Following the prayer, JnU vice-chancellor Prof. Rezaul Karim expressed his grief, stating, "My Student Jobaed was killed brutally. His departure in such a way is totally unexpected and we lost a treasure." He emphasized the urgency for justice and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.

JCD general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir reflected on the loss of Jobaed, describing him as a "bright star" within their ranks. He labeled the incident as a planned murder and drew a parallel to the murder of their DU fellow activist Shammo. He expressed hope that the police would soon apprehend the offenders.

Md Jobaed Hasan was a student of the Statistics department of Jagannath University under the 2019-20 session and a convening member of the JnU unit JCD. He was murdered the previous afternoon at his tuition student's residential building at Nasir Box Lane near Mahuttuli.
