Dhaka: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today declared that the July movement remains active as anti-July forces are poised to strike. “Over the last nine months, I’ve come to understand that July isn’t over. The revolution it represents isn’t a moment in time-it’s a frontline that must be defended every single day,” he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam emphasized that the forces opposing the July movement have not vanished; rather, they are vigilant, waiting, and preparing to make a move. He stressed that the current scenario is a struggle between two visions for Bangladesh: one aiming for a democratic, free, and progressive nation, and the other representing a kleptocratic regime holding onto its corrupt past.

Alam cautioned that any complacency could lead to the resurgence of these opposing forces with violence, propaganda, and hostility. He pointed out the presence of anti-July forces’ loyalists, eager to rewrite history and undermine the achievements of July. “They wait for the streets to empty so they can reclaim them,” he noted, urging continuous vigilance both physically and ideologically.

He addressed the challenge of defending the truth in a post-revolutionary context, warning against allowing opponents to replace it with fiction. Alam highlighted the plight of the Biharis, who have been marginalized and prevented from telling their own stories, underscoring the importance of preserving historical accuracy.

Expressing his personal commitment, Alam stated that he will continue to speak out about the massacres of July and the oppressive period between 2009 and August 2024. He described the fight for a New Bangladesh as both political and personal, affirming his unwavering dedication to the cause.
