Dhaka: The Japanese Election Observation Mission today visited Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna. The meeting was part of a courtesy call by the Japanese delegation to discuss electoral observations and cooperation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation was led by Masato Watanabe, who is both the Ambassador and Leader of the Japanese Election Observation Mission. The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing announced the visit this evening. The delegation comprised several prominent members, including Naonori Kusakabe, Associate Professor at the College of Intercultural Communication, Rikkyo University, and Sonoko Ichimura, Principal Deputy Director of the Southwest Asia Division at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Additional members of the delegation included Yoshiaki Kobayashi, Assistant Director of the Southwest Asia Division, and SAIDA Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh. KOMINE Ken, First Secretary and Head of the Political Section at the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, NISHI Yuki, Second Secretary of the Political Section, and SONE Keita, Adviser in the Political Section, were also present.
From the local side, Lamiya Morshed, Senior Secretary and SDG Coordinator, and Mohammed Nore Alam, Director General of East Asia and Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting. The visit underscores the ongoing collaboration and dialogue between Japan and Bangladesh in the area of electoral processes and international cooperation.
