Rajshahi: Speakers at a meeting here today unanimously emphasized that interfaith dialogue coupled with religious learning is crucial for ensuring religious harmony and preventing communal violence in society.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting highlighted the need for concerted efforts by religious leaders from all faiths and frequent interfaith dialogues as effective ways to promote peace and tranquility.
The event, organized by the regional office of Caritas Bangladesh at its conference hall, marked the celebration of Caritas Day 2026 and included a ceremony to honor 37 members with long-service awards. The theme of the event was “Prayer, Listening and Fasting: A Holy Call of Inner Transformation.” Panel discussants such as Hafez Mawlana Rafiqul Islam from Hazi Jamir Uddin Safina Mohila College, Subrata Kumar Sarker from Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, and Reverend Father Fabian from Catholic Dharma Prodesh shared insights from their respective faiths.
Bishop Jevers Rosario, who served as the chief guest, presented recommendations for maintaining communal and religious harmony. He emphasized that dialogues should facilitate learning from each other’s religious experiences and practices. Caritas Regional Director Dr. Arook Toppo chaired the meeting and underscored the importance of organizing interfaith dialogues at community levels to foster peaceful religious practices.
The event also featured speeches by Akbraul Hassan Millat, editor of ‘Daily Sonar Desh’, entrepreneur Abul Hasna Poly, and development activist Everest Hembrom. They echoed the call for collaborative efforts by religious leaders to ensure societal harmony and tranquility.
