Law Minister Emphasizes Adherence to July Charter Amidst NCP Criticism

Kushtia: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today emphasized that the BNP is committed to adhering to the principles of the July Charter, despite criticisms from NCP leaders. Speaking to journalists after inaugurating a canal excavation programme at Moragacha-Hashimpur in Khoksa upazila, the minister clarified the BNP’s stance on recent statements by NCP leaders concerning a referendum.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister remarked that the NCP leaders have misunderstood aspects of the issue at hand. He assured that a comprehensive response to their statements would be made in the National Parliament, aiming to address both emotional and legal perspectives.



The minister also outlined the BNP government’s plans to excavate 20,000 kilometres of rivers and canals nationwide, as part of a broader initiative to remove illegal occupants. On the topic of pending legal cases, he stated the intention to engage in discussions with all parties involved to reach decisions that reflect collective opinions.



The canal excavation programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mahbubul Alam and featured addresses from several dignitaries, including Kushtia-1 lawmaker Reza Ahmed Bacchu, Kushtia-4 lawmaker Afzal Hussain, former lawmaker Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi, and Kushtia Zila Parishad Administrator Principal Sohrab Uddin.
