Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain today emphasized the potential benefits of adopting the Indo-Malaysian model of Hajj management to introduce innovative and cost-effective solutions in Bangladesh. Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled “Easy Financing and Cost-Effective Hajj Management” held at the Dhaka Officers’ Club, Dr Hossain highlighted the advantages of studying and adapting the systems used by India and Malaysia, which could enable Bangladeshi pilgrims to perform Hajj at a reduced cost.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Hossain pointed out that implementing this model could have a positive impact on the national economy. The seminar, organized by the Bangladesh Hajj Academy, focused on the potential of such an approach to make Hajj more accessible. The Indo-Malaysian model allows pilgrims to finance their Hajj over time through small savings schemes, facilitating participation for low-income individuals and contributing to long-term financial planning.

Dr Hossain mentioned that a significant number of pilgrims in India and Malaysia benefit from these savings schemes. Such schemes not only make Hajj affordable but also have a broader economic impact. This approach supports overall development and progress within those countries, he added.

The seminar was chaired by Dr Gias Uddin Talukder, Chairman of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks, who also endorsed the idea of exploring innovative financial models for Hajj management in Bangladesh.
