Dhaka: The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is gearing up to host the two-day Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025, scheduled from September 30 to October 1. This event is organized in alignment with the festive spirit of Durga Puja, offering a vibrant showcase of cultural events.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the festival is being organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and managed by the Shilpakala Academy. It aims to promote cultural harmony and display traditional performances. Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with several other advisers, is expected to attend the festival's opening ceremony. Additionally, Cultural Secretary M Mafidur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, and senior officials from various ministries and government agencies will also be present. Diplomats from various countries have been invited to attend the event.
This year, under the joint initiative of the Ministry and the Academy, several new cultural programs have been introduced to celebrate Bangladesh's diverse religious and cultural traditions. These initiatives include the 'Moon Night Joy Ceremony' in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, and a Cultural Festival held earlier this year to mark Buddha Purnima 2025. The Sharadiya Festival continues to add significant celebrations to this growing lineup of inclusive national events.
The festival will commence on Tuesday, September 30, with a traditional Jatra pala titled "Mahisasur Mardini, Devi Durga", scheduled to be staged at the Suhrawardy Udyan Muktamancha from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The event will conclude on Wednesday, October 1, at the Nandan Manch of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, also from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, featuring a range of cultural performances.
The Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 is open to all, with organizers encouraging members of the public from all walks of life to join in celebrating cultural heritage and artistic expression.
