Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 today took cognisance of the formal charge submitted in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of college student Imam Hasan Taim in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the July Mass Uprising. Confirming the development, Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman informed journalists that the tribunal acknowledged the charges against 11 accused, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Habibur Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tribunal also ordered the authorities to produce the 11 accused before the court on January 5, 2026. Taim, a second-year student of Adamjee Nagar Government College in Narayanganj, was shot at close range on July 20 near the Kajla footbridge under Jatrabari Police Station.
The prosecution stated that police personnel later took Taim to Jatrabari Police Station, where he subsequently died after being subjected to torture.
