Dhaka: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul emphasized the significant demand for skilled workers in Japan during a seminar at the International Mother Language Institute. He stressed the importance of Bangladeshi workers acquiring the necessary skills and expertise to meet this demand.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Nazrul, who served as the chief guest at the seminar titled ‘Japanese Labour Market: Possibility and Challenge,’ announced the formation of a ‘Japan Cell’ and plans for a dedicated website to facilitate the process of sending workers abroad. Efforts are being made to streamline and simplify this process.

Professor Nazrul also discussed the potential for private-public partnerships to develop a skilled workforce. He pointed out challenges within public services, highlighting issues such as inadequate resources and inefficient manpower in government offices.

He further revealed plans to introduce bank loan facilities for students aspiring to study or work abroad. However, he advised caution, stressing that individuals should gain proper expertise before seeking opportunities overseas to avoid unfortunate situations, such as financial distress from selling property.

In addition to Japan, Professor Nazrul mentioned the possibility of sending 30,000 to 40,000 Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia within the next year, indicating a broader scope for international employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers.
