Gazipur: Addressing a May Day rally, Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, emphasized the importance of improving the lives and livelihoods of workers as a cornerstone for national progress. Speaking at the rally held at Bhogra Bypass in Gazipur to mark International Workers’ Day, Zubair highlighted the crucial role that the working class plays, often risking their lives, and called for the creation of a just society to support them.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the rally was organized by the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Gazipur Metropolitan unit. Zubair noted that Gazipur is home to a significant number of workers, underscoring the need for more initiatives to enhance their quality of life. He stressed that ensuring workers’ welfare is essential for the country’s overall development and urged both workers and employers to collaborate for national progress.
Zubair also pointed out the lack of parliamentary seats for workers, despite the presence of reserved seats for women. The event was moderated by Hasibul Hasan, the city unit General Secretary, and featured speeches from Gazipur-4 constituency lawmaker Salahuddin Ayubi, Metropolitan Jamaat Nayeb Ameer Khairul Hasan, Assistant Secretary Afzal Hossain, and Azharul Islam Molla. The rally was presided over by city unit President Muhammad Hossain Ali, with special guests including Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer Professor Muhammad Jamal Uddin and Workers’ Welfare Federation Central Vice President Kabir Ahmed.
