Colombo: Bangladesh suffered a collapse during the first ODI of a three-match series against Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo that is now considered as the worst collapse the cricket world has ever seen. Bangladesh were reduced to 105-8 from 100-1, while chasing a modest target of 245 and eventually were bowled out for 167, to concede a 77-run defeat.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the shocking collapse that saw Bangladesh lose seven wickets for just five runs is the worst from the second to the eighth wicket in ODI history. There is only one worse 7-wicket collapse in ODI history. In 2008, Zimbabwe were all out for 127 runs from 124-3 against Sri Lanka in Harare, losing the last 7 wickets for 3 runs.

This is not the first time that Bangladesh has suffered such a terrible batting collapse in an innings. In 2014, Bangladesh lost the last 7 wickets for 8 runs against India in Mirpur. Bangladesh lost the match by 47 runs on DL S method after being all out for 58 from 50-3.

Last year, Bangladesh lost the first ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah by 92 runs after losing the last 7 wickets for 11 runs and being all out for 143 runs.
