Chattogram: The 44th edition of the National Cycling Competition is scheduled to commence tomorrow at the Chattogram Zilla Stadium. This year’s event will see the participation of 250 cyclists representing 19 districts and 24 teams.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the competition will run from July 4 to 6 and will be held at both the Chattogram Zilla Stadium and Patenga Tunnel Road. The event is set to kick off tomorrow morning, with Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam inaugurating the competition at MA Aziz Stadium in the afternoon.
Bangladesh Cycling Federation General Secretary Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal Tuku, during a press conference at the Zilla Stadium, elaborated on various aspects of the competition. He confirmed that teams from regions including Chattogram, Nilphamari, Khulna, Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Natore, Narail, Chandpur, Bandarban, and Sylhet, among others, will be participating.
In addition to district teams, service teams such as Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, last year’s champions, along with Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Jail Police, and Bangladesh Railway, will compete in the event. The competition will feature 175 male cyclists competing in nine events in the men’s division and 75 female cyclists participating in nine events in the women’s division. Notably, two 16-year-old cyclists will also be part of this year’s competition.
The press conference was attended by officials including National Sports Council (NSC) Chattogram Deputy Director Shihab Uddin, District Sports Officer Abdul Bari, Bangladesh Cycling Federation Executive Member Abdur Razzak, and CJKS Councilor Ali Hasan Raju.
