Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that Sheikh Hasina, despite leaving the country, continues to incite unrest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul accused the former leader of orchestrating disruptions from India by instructing members of the Chhatra League and Jubo League. He made these statements during the launch of a canal cleaning initiative organized by Dhaka North City BNP in Uttara, celebrating the 47th founding anniversary of the party.
Fakhrul warned of attempts by Sheikh Hasina to destabilize the nation, urging BNP activists to be prepared to defend themselves if targeted. He emphasized the need for political engagement rooted in the principles of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, distancing from what he described as sycophantic behaviors akin to those of the Awami League.
Reaffirming his commitment to national sovereignty, Fakhrul declared that the BNP would defend the country’s independence at any cost. He also spoke of Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Yunus, highlighting his non-political stance and his role in striving for peace.
Fakhrul assured that BNP respects the rule of law, promising media freedom should the party come to power. He also cautioned party members against causing disturbances in student union elections or elsewhere.
In a call for unity, Fakhrul urged the police to act responsibly and encouraged everyone to stand firm against misinformation spreading on social media.
