Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today emphasized the government’s dedication to delivering quality and accurate textbooks to students, marking significant efforts amidst various challenges.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar made these remarks during the inauguration of the programme titled ‘Uploading of soft copies of textbooks for the 2026 academic year to the website’. He highlighted that the Ministry of Education and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) conducted several meetings to ensure the textbooks’ accuracy and quality.
The meticulous editing process involved approximately 250 skilled teachers from various Dhaka schools, who worked on the hard-copy book editing over several weeks. Additionally, feedback was gathered from around 6,000 teachers nationwide through online platforms, which was then reviewed and incorporated into the revisions by an expert committee.
Dr Abrar stressed that providing accurate textbooks remained the top priority. He mentioned that during the printing stage, several practical issues, including payment of past bills, bank loans, and electricity supply, were addressed through constant collaboration among the Ministry of Education, NCTB, and other relevant departments.
Despite pressure from various interest groups, the government remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring accurate and quality textbooks. Dr Abrar noted that 26 printing companies have already completed 100 percent book supply, with six more companies set to deliver tomorrow. While there were suggestions to print abroad or use direct purchase methods, faith was placed in domestic printers.
In concluding, Dr Abrar expressed gratitude for the collective efforts and celebrated the successful fulfillment of this responsibility, asserting, “We worked with the belief that we could, and today we can say that we can celebrate.”
