Govt to Procure 5.38 Crore Anti-TB Drugs to Boost Tuberculosis Control

Dhaka: The Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase has approved a proposal to procure 5,38,65,000 units of Anti-TB drugs (4FDC) under the revenue budget. This decision aims to enhance tuberculosis control efforts across the country.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Health Services Division proposed this substantial procurement, with M/S Reneta PLC selected as the supplier. The total cost for the purchase is Taka 77.57 crore, and it falls under Package No GR-2557.



The approval was granted during the 6th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat. Health officials emphasized that this procurement will ensure a continuous supply of essential medicines in government health facilities, supporting the national TB elimination program.



In addition to this, the meeting also approved a proposal to procure 14.82 lakh GeneXpert Cartridges through the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) at a cost of Taka 237.12 crore. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) will supply these cartridges to maintain uninterrupted diagnostic services for TB and other infectious diseases.



The committee also allowed the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education to renew 11 contracts with Grameenphone Limited. This renewal will provide internet connectivity to 40,586 government primary schools under the Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4).



Officials noted that these decisions highlight the government’s dedication to enhancing health services, educational infrastructure, and energy planning through transparent procurement processes.
