Govt Committed to Women’s Empowerment Through Technology Projects

Dhaka: ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury emphasized the government’s commitment to sustaining projects aimed at enhancing women’s technological skills and ensuring their participation in economic activities, leading to women’s development and empowerment. He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Women in Technology’ held at the FBCCI office in the capital.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seminar, presided over by FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, highlighted ongoing efforts by the ICT Division with 21 projects focused on improving ICT-based knowledge and skills for women. Shish Haider Chowdhury suggested potential collaborations between the ICT Division and the FBCCI in technology, innovation, research, and development.



Additional Secretary to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division (Development), Dr Nurunnahar Chowdhury, addressed the need for a mindset shift to include women in digital transformation. Professor Selwa A. F. Al-Hazzaa, CEO of Saudi-based tech firm SDM, led a business delegation and announced plans to commence work in Bangladesh on health-related technology and services.



FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, in his welcome address, stressed the importance of women in Bangladesh boosting international linkages and networking to remain competitive globally. The seminar featured a keynote presentation by Oracle Country Managing Director Rubaba Dowla and contributions from Mir Telecom Director Mehrin Nasir, Pran-RFL Group’s Sumaiya Tabassum Ahmed, sharetrip.com CEO Sadia Haque, and Assistant Professor Md Aminul Islam from the Bangladesh University of Health Sciences.



The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Bangladesh CNG Machineries Importers Association President Md Zakir Hossain Nayan. The occasion also saw the presence of FBCCI supporting committee members and various business leaders and women entrepreneurs.
