Dhaka: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has taken action against four businesses involved in unethical practices, including weight manipulation and maintaining unhygienic conditions. Three meat shops were penalized for slaughtering cows in unsanitary environments and deceiving customers with inaccurate weights.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a DNCRP team, supported by joint forces, executed a raid at a district town market. As a result, three shops owned by Abdus Salam were fined a total of Taka 26,000 for their involvement in these practices. The authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene standards to safeguard consumer rights.
In a separate operation, the team targeted a fish market in Fatepur Bazar, where a shop owner was fined Taka 50,000 for cheating in weights. This action underscores the DNCRP’s commitment to protecting consumers from fraudulent activities and ensuring fair trade practices.
