Sylhet: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has expressed his intention to participate in the upcoming BCB elections. During his visit to the Sylhet District Stadium, Bulbul shared with reporters his aspiration to serve the country in any capacity possible.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bulbul emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections, stating, “We will hold the elections in the first week of October. We will conduct a fair election.” It was highlighted that in the BCB, the president is not directly elected. Instead, directors are chosen first, and Bulbul’s initial goal is to secure a position among them.

Bulbul, who succeeded Faruque Ahmed as BCB president on May 30, following the NSC’s decision to withdraw Faruque’s directorship, expressed his commitment to advancing cricket in the nation. “I want to work more for cricket in the country as per its need,” he stated.

The BCB board of directors will comprise 25 members, with 10 directors elected from the Regional and District Cricket Association councillorship category and 12 chosen from the Dhaka Metropolis Club representatives. Additionally, one director will be elected from the ‘Others’ category, while the NSC will have the authority to nominate two directors to the board. These directors will then vote to elect the president, in accordance with the BCB constitution.

In related developments, former national skipper Tamim Iqbal has hinted at his interest in contesting the BCB elections. The BCB is expected to soon announce a three-member election commission, which will reveal the specific date for the elections.
