Dhaka: A total of 14 Bangladeshi cricketers have registered their names for the auction of South Africa’s domestic tournament, SA Twenty20. The auction for the 2025-26 season of SA T20 is scheduled to be held on September 9, where a total of 541 cricketers will be up for grabs.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the list of Bangladeshi players includes prominent names such as Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Liton Das, along with others like Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mehedi Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shamim Patwari, Towhid Hridoy, Hasan Mahmud, Jaker Ali Anik, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.

In addition to the Bangladeshi contingent, the auction will also see the participation of 43-year-old English cricket legend James Anderson, who has made a return to T20 cricket after nearly 11 years, having recently played for Lancashire in the T20 Blast and for Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

Out of the total 541 players, 241 are foreign players vying for only 25 available slots, while 300 South African cricketers will contend for 59 spots. This creates a competitive environment as teams decide their picks for the upcoming season.

The SA Twenty20 is set to commence in December, aligning with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 schedule, which might pose a challenge for Bangladeshi players regarding availability, as they may not receive clearance to participate in SA T20 even if selected by a franchise.
