Dhaka: The Armed Forces Day is set to be observed tomorrow with great enthusiasm and festivity, commemorating the establishment of the army, navy, and air forces during the 1971 Liberation War. The day’s events will commence with special prayers after Fajr at mosques within all military bases across the nation, as outlined in an ISPR press release, seeking blessings for the martyred members of the armed forces from 1971 and for the continued prosperity of the nation and its military.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, both President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Chief Adviser of the interim government Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, have shared separate messages to mark the occasion. Tomorrow morning, the president and the chief adviser will place wreaths at the Shikha Anirban (Flame Eternal) in Dhaka Cantonment, followed by similar tributes from the heads of the army, navy, and air force.

ment, and later, they will also meet with the president at Bangabhaban. A special reception will be held for selected gallantry award-winning Freedom Fighters and their families at Army Multipurpose Complex, where the chief adviser will distribute souvenirs and exchange greetings with the war veterans.
In attendance at the reception will be various high-ranking officials, including the Adviser of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant, and several military and civil officials. Moreover, a reception on behalf of the chief adviser will take place at Sena Kunja in Dhaka Cantonment, welcoming a host of dignitaries, including foreign diplomats, judges, former military officers, and other eminent figures.
Bangladesh Television will broadcast the event live, while additional receptions will be held at army garrisons and naval and air bases in multiple cities, including Barishal, Cox’s Bazar, and Chattogram. The Bangladesh Navy will also open its ships to the public at various
naval ghats.
Further celebrations include a ‘Special Anirban’ programme to be aired on BTV, with other channels broadcasting it later, as well as special newspaper supplements and competitions in educational institutions run by the armed forces, all highlighting the significance of Armed Forces Day.
