All Will Work Together to Make Bagerhat Drug-Free: Sheikh Farid

Bagerhat: State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam has stated a collective commitment to make Bagerhat a drug-free district. “The government will work to bring positive changes to the lives of climate-vulnerable communities,” he declared during an iftar gathering organized by the Bagerhat Press Club at the Bagerhat District Council Auditorium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the ongoing utilization of funds from the Climate Change Trust in various regions, including the hill tracts and northern areas of the country. He assured that similar resources would be applied in Bagerhat to address issues like safe drinking water and housing. Sheikh Farid emphasized that the four Members of Parliament from the district will collaboratively work to enhance infrastructure and tackle the challenges faced by climate-affected populations.

He further urged people from all societal sectors to unite for the district’s overall development. The iftar event was presided over by Abu Sayeed Shunu, president of the Bagerhat Press Club, with the presence of MPs Maulana Moshiur Rahman, Sheikh Monjurul Haque, and Mohammad Abdul Alim as special guests. The gathering witnessed participants reaffirming their dedication to the district’s development.

Notable attendees included Superintendent of Police Bagerhat Hasan Chowdhury, Additional District Magistrate Mejbah Uddin, Bagerhat district BNP convener ATM Akram Hossain Talim, former district BNP president M A Salam, Bagerhat Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Abdul Wadud, Press Club Vice-President SM Raj, and General Secretary Hedayet Hossain Liton.
