Dhaka: The Council of Advisers has approved a draft agreement on cultural cooperation between Bangladesh and Jordan. The approval was granted during a meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations through mutual cooperation in cultural and heritage preservation. It will facilitate the exchange of experiences between officials and experts from both countries through meetings, seminars, and exhibitions. Further, it will promote mutual access to libraries and archives in both nations for cultural, scientific, and educational purposes.

The agreement will also encourage the exchange of information, literature, systematic and statistical research, and periodical publications in the fields of culture and art. The Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division has already vetted the draft, which focuses on cooperation in the control, legal protection, maintenance, and restoration of artistic heritage and manuscripts.

Additionally, the meeting approved the draft ‘Renewable Energy Policy 2025,’ setting a target to meet 20 percent of electricity demand from renewable sources by 2030 and 30 percent by 2040. An agreement on the waiver of visa requirements for diplomatic, special, and service or official passport holders between Peru and Bangladesh was also approved.
