Netrokona:Lawmaker Mansura Alam has emphasized the importance of national unity and religious harmony in Bangladesh, stating that there should be no division between minority and majority groups within the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at an event held at Purbadhala Sarbojanin Central Puja Mandir in Netrokona's Purbadhala upazila. The ceremony was organized to distribute financial assistance and sarees to members of the Hindu community in anticipation of the Sharadiya Durga Puja.

Alam highlighted that every citizen has equal rights, and stressed that communal harmony and unity are crucial for the nation's development. She pointed to Purbadhala's long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence, noting that religion is a personal matter while the state and its festivals are shared by all.

She further mentioned her efforts in allocating development funds for temples as well as mosques, promising continued support for all citizens, irrespective of their religious or social backgrounds. Alam assured that local administration and law enforcement are actively monitoring security to ensure a peaceful celebration of Durga Puja for the Hindu community.

The event was chaired by Tarun Kumar Roy, president of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad's Purbadhala branch, and moderated by Deepak Ranjan. It was attended by local political leaders, media representatives, and members of the Hindu community. Mansura Alam concluded the programme by distributing sarees and cash aid to 200 local Hindu devotees.
