Dhaka: The government has announced a reshuffling of key positions within its administration, withdrawing two secretaries, retracting an earlier withdrawal order for another, and appointing new officials to vital ministries. This restructuring was communicated through a series of notifications issued on Sunday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Public Administration released six separate gazette notifications detailing the changes. Israt Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, and Md Mofidur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, have been reassigned to the Ministry of Public Administration.
In a related directive, the Ministry of Public Administration emphasized the necessity for officials to adhere to office hours, specifically between 9:00 am and 9:40 am, and comply with energy-saving measures.
Additionally, a previous order from March 25, which had attached Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) Secretary Sirajun Noor Chowdhury to the Public Administration Ministry, has been suspended until further notice.
In terms of new appointments, Md Ashraful Islam, previously an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, has been promoted to Secretary and will take up the role at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. Kaniz Mowla, who was serving as Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat and had been transferred to IMED as Secretary on March 25, has now been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
In another notable move, Zakaria, who was earlier promoted and appointed as Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division from his role as Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, has been reassigned as a Member (Secretary) of the Planning Commission.
