Badarganj: Terming journalists as the conscience of society, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami ATM Azharul Islam emphasized their supportive role in building a prosperous and enlightened nation. He expressed these views while engaging in a discussion with local journalists at his residence in the Baluabhat area of Badarganj.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Azharul Islam, who is also the party’s candidate from the Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) constituency for the upcoming election, highlighted the necessity for the government to create a fair electoral environment. This would allow citizens to exercise their voting rights without obstacles. He urged the interim government to ensure a level playing field and a fair and impartial environment for all political parties.
Azharul Islam assured that, if elected, he would focus on reopening Shyampur Sugar Mills, which would provide employment to hundreds of unemployed youths. He also expressed his commitment to increasing the number of beds and modernizing hospitals in Badarganj and Taraganj upazilas, alongside improving road communications.
ATM Azharul Islam noted that approximately Taka 27 lakh crore was smuggled abroad from Bangladesh during the previous regime, which he described as fascist. He believes that this sum could have been utilized for extensive socio-economic development, advancing the country beyond the level of Singapore.
He further stated that Jamaat-e-Islami aims to establish peace within society by nominating honest individuals across the nation. He called upon the public to vote for the ‘Daripala’ symbol in the forthcoming Jatiya Sangsad elections.
The discussion was attended by several key figures of Jamaat-e-Islami, including District Working Committee Member Moulana Abdul Hannan, Badarganj Upazila Ameer Muhammad Kamruzzaman Kabir, Nayeb-e-Ameer Shah Muhammad Rustam Ali, Upazila Secretary Moulana Mohammad Minhajul Islam, and Badarganj Municipality Ameer Moulana Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman.
