Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 22.6 percent, reaching US$1,161 million in the first nine days of December, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This increase marks a significant rise compared to the same period last year when the remittance inflow stood at $945 million.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, from July to December 9, 2025, of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances amounting to $14,200 million. This figure indicates substantial growth compared to the $12,085 million received during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The rise in remittance inflow is seen as a positive indicator for the country’s economy, providing a boost to foreign exchange reserves. The sustained increase in remittances is crucial as it supports economic stability and development initiatives within Bangladesh.
