Two Human Traffickers Arrested in Satkhira While Attempting Cross-Border Trafficking

Satkhira: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two human traffickers while they were trafficking a Bangladeshi woman to India through Satkhira’s Taluigacha border. They were apprehended from the Kuliyadanga area of the Taluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar upazila, and the woman was successfully rescued.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests took place on Saturday afternoon, following which a case was filed at night. The traffickers, identified as Abul Kalam, 74, and his son Md. Imran Hossain, 23, were handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station. The rescued woman is Setu Akhter, 23, a resident of Dasherdanga village under Lohagara Police Station in Narail district.



Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team from BGB-33 Battalion conducted a raid in the area, which is approximately 3 kilometers inside Bangladesh territory, resulting in the arrest of the traffickers and the rescue of the woman. BGB sources confirmed the operation’s success, attributing it to precise intelligence and rapid action.



Satkhira 33 BGB commander Lt. Col. Ashraful confirmed the details of the operation. He stated that a case has been filed naming the two arrested individuals along with 15 other fugitive accused involved in the trafficking operation. The rescued woman and the traffickers have since been handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
